The Present Monarch

The present King is HRH Yang diPertuan Agung Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and Queen, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tengku Fauziah Binti Al-Marhum Tengku Abdul Rashid. As the Raja of Perlis he was installed as the present 12^th Yang di Pertuan Agong of Malaysia on 25^th April 2002.

About the King

After completing his studies at Wellinborough in 1963, he joined Sandhurst Royal Military Academy in England in January 1964. Upon graduation, the Ruler returned to Malaya and joined the Defence Ministry where he served as second lieutenant with the Second Regiment Reconnaissance Force from Dec12, 1965. After serving in Sabah, Sarawak and Pahang, the Ruler left the military as a full lieutenant on Dec 31, 1969 and returned to Perlis. His interest in the military has never wavered and the Ruler joined the Army Reserve Force on Nov 16, 1970 with a rank

of captain.

The Royal Family

The Ruler is now the Commander of Regiment 504, Army Reserve Force, with a rank of colonel and is also Colonel-in Chief of the Royal Ranger Regiment. As King, he is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. As a lover of sports, he spends his free time playing golf and tennis, besides taking a keen interest in soccer. The King is known to lead a simple and humble life and is known as a Ruler of Integrity and respect.
