Beaches of Langkawi

The western beaches of Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah and Pantai Kok -

are the most popular beaches on Langkawi with a wide choice of accommodation, restaurants and eateries. Datai and Burau Bay

surrounded by stunning tropical rainforest provide the location for luxury resorts and one of the most stunning golf courses in Asia.

While up north is the tiny, rustic, hideaway cove of Pasir Tengkorak

Pantai Cenang

Sometimes spelled Chenang, offers two kilometres of fine powdery sand fringed

by coconut trees and casuarinas. Located at the south-western tip

of Langkawi, about 18 kilometres from Kuah.

A combination of relaxing beach ambiance and modern comforts, the beach

is lined with a number of resorts, luxury class hotels, chalets and restaurants.

Pantai Tengah
Pantai Tengah, about 500 metres south of Pantai Cenang is a great place if

you're looking for somewhere to simply chill out. Accommodation consists of

low key chalets with more upscale resorts recently built. Not ideal swimming conditions due to its position on the bay, but picturesque and quiet.

Pantai Kok

On the western side of Langkawi Island, about twelve kilometres north of Pantai Cenang, lies Pantai Kok, a beautiful powdery sand bay fringed by limestone hills and forest. Quieter and more secluded than Pantai Cenang, the area makes an ideal romantic getaway or a tranquil honeymoon place.

Four new resorts, a new golf course and a replica of the Thai palace used in

the film "Anna and the King" are among the other attractions.

If you're feeling energetic you can go jungle trekking or explore the local caves. Pantai Kok has a few bars and restaurants but it's mainly a place to

simply relax in the natural beauty of the beach and bay.

Burau Bay

Situated on the west coast on the island of Langkawi on one of the nicer

beachfront sites. Burau Bay is set amongst a stretch of white sandy beaches with good waters at the foothills of the camel ridged mountain range of Mat Cincang.

Datai Bay

The north coast of Langkawi features a bay with the most stunning of all vistas on the island, namely Teluk Datai and Burau Bay. The bay is home to some of the island's most exclusive resorts and the stunning Datai Golf Course.

Tanjung Rhu
Also known as Casuarina Beach, Tanjung Rhu is a beautiful, secluded white

sand bay lined with Casuarina trees on the north-eastern tip of the island.

The sea here is sheltered by the curve of the bay and, with its shallow waters,

is unusually tranquil, reminding one of a lagoon. It's a quiet enclave with just a couple of resorts providing peace and tranquility.
