Jungle Trekking Romp in the rainforest. You can opt for a relaxing walk with a naturalist, or a more strenuous guided jungle trek up a mountain stream, under a 60m forest canopy, ending with a dip in a waterfall basin right at the heart of the rainforest. Canopy Trekking The island of Langkawi became home to one of only two rainforest canopy trails in the world. The other one is in Costa Rica. This activity has been described as air trekking, aerial canopy discovery and canopy adventure. It involves abseiling, rappelling, climbing, jungle trekking, and being suspended 30m (98ft) above the rainforest floor and gliding high above ground on a cable system with safety and brake hand rails, platforms and a postman's bridge.
|
There are two adventure trails available. The first involves air trekking between three platforms, crossing the postman's bridge which spans 10m (32ft) across an abyss, and abseiling 20m(65ft) down a huge boulder. Starting at the base of Gunung Raya you will proceed a one-kilometre hike up the mountain. Then following a trek through the jungle which will bring to base camp where the equipment is stored and where while being geared up, briefing is given on the trek and also on all the safety devices, equipment and harnesses used. |
Covering the entire trekking system including the last run of 120m (394ft), and what has been called the "leap of faith" into a towering tree and seeing the forest from up there while gliding is an awesome experience. After this leap, there are no more exits and turning back and you would have to abseil from the 30m (98ft) tall tree. Kilim River & Eagle Feeding Here you will also get to see ecological sites like limestone caves and a fresh water lake along what is known as the Mangrove trail. Brown eagles, water lizards and curious monkeys are just some of the wildlife you are sure to encounter on any given day. Hand feeding brown eagles with chicken skins is an experience that will put you right in centre of your own wildlife documentary. > More Info <
